Sunset in the South
Two Cubs tickets.
One Cubs and a Sox caps.
No one said a thing, only a little humorous questions about that black with white mark.
One Sox hat among all the others Cubs T-shirts, hats, flags...,
Great danger toward the black shade:
"Go away you Sox fan!"
A meaningful head shake.
"Sox hat??"
The first encounter for a different "color" showing on a baby's expression.
An understanding of "the others".
You know what? The funniest thing was,
The first threat I got was from a minority in the group.
Then why are "you" here? I asked in my mind.
Ofcourse, why couldn't he be there? Wearing that blue, red, and white?
Then I understood, he was asking why wasn't he over the other side?
To make sure I could get out of there safely, I put my cap away.
I don't choose sides, I don't participate in political events, I don't relate myself to any society (except my country), (or maybe for Chicago the city I stay in)but now, as a residence who gets off at Sox-35th, I kiss the sunset over the sky above our dearly beloved Cellular Field-Chicago White Sox.
P.S. Maybe, unconsciously, I wore the cap over there on purpose. But I am sure I don't look good with that blue, red, and white C. And, that is a gift from a friend.
